Maze Solitaire/Patience rules for Maze

Object of the game
Create four suit sequences, each with twelve cards, from Ace to Queen, reading from left to right and top to bottom
Deck
52 cards - One standard deck
Tableau
  • 54 tableau piles with one card each, except for the piles at the far right of the first two rows
  • All Kings are discarded, creating four more gaps
  • A gap must be filled with a card that is either:
    - one rank higher and of the same suit as the previous card, or
    - one rank lower and of the same suit as the next card, or
    - an Ace of a different suit if the previous card is a Queen
  • Gaps to the left of an Ace cannot be filled with a Queen unless the card to the left of the gap is a Jack
  • The first card in the first row follows the last card in the last row
  • Only one card allowed on each pile
Closed loop
The bottom right-hand pile is consecutive with the top left-hand pile, so that the entire sequence of 54 positions forms a closed loop. The first Ace does not necessarily have to lie in the first pile of the tableau; the sequence may start anywhere, and gaps within the sequence are allowed.
